In view of the upcoming elections of June 17, it is only fitting to
embark on a review of what Sovereignty of the Greek People means and
how this is annulled by the self-sufficiency sought in parliament by
every party or government.
So far, and based on our very educating experience during those two
and a half last years, we should have understood by now that whenever
all those belonging to the rotten and putrid political system are
crying out loud about something, it is usually to buttress their own
interests and not those of the Greek People. For more than thirty
years they have all been exorcising the ghost of lack of government
and follow it up with commensurate threats that Greece will
self-combust, trying to associate lack of government with lack of
sufficiency of parliamentary seats by a particular party, which,
according to them, ‘precludes the formation of a strong and
self-sufficient government capable of ruling the country to good
effect’.
This is nothing but a twist of truth and base propaganda and bears no
relationship to reality. This is easily corroborated if we take as our
starting point the very definitions that those who have particular
vested interests in those definitions are trying, panicky, to merge.
‘Lack of government’ refers strictly to a real lack of government.
Nothing more or less, regarding the present political system in power
these days.
‘Parliamentary self-suffuciency of a party of government’ refers to
the ability to lay control over more than half the number of MPs by
the parliamentary sufficient party and government, a system that in
fact amounts to laying absolute control over all party decisions
without having anything to fear by any objections – or disagreements
on the part of the other parties in parliament.
In other words, what all politicians and political parties are asking,
or sometimes even begging, the People for is in reality a blanc cheque
without any fear of bouncing, regardless of the actions and their
consequences, for a period of two to four years.
But to whom does this definition of absolute rule really belong, the
one that proclaims that the ‘the governor / leader shall have
limitless powers and total impunity regarding his actions or any means
of having his decisions blocked from materializing by anybody else’?
To a dictator, of course, and the total, utter and complete dictator
at that, and under no circumstances to any democratically-minded
leader or government acting within and having faith in and allegiance
to a democratic regime.
So why are they trying to anchor their claim that unless we turn them
into a complete and utter dictator for four years, and indeed with
complete impunity and immunity against criminal persecution for a
lifetime, ‘lack of government’ shall ensue? What are they really
saying by that?
They are simply saying to us that they are either in denial of or that
they are totally incapable of engaging in actions when in power that
will enjoy the trust and acceptance and support by most People,
certainly more than their own party groupies and cronies. They are
saying that the democratic process is something that they totally
ignore and are incapable of functioning under, or that they are simply
not interested in working under, like veritable offspring of
junta-lovers, royalist, Nazi-sympathizers, landed tsiflik owners,
collaborators and the assorted brood of ship owners and foreign
occupiers, who are bred, fed and brought up to become parasitic
fascist kinglets longing for the reconstitution of the English
aristocracy in our land. Having accountability at every step they
take, or risking their toppling by causing popular disapproval, to
have to be convincing and persuading so that to forestall any takeover
of their powers by their opponents, is a totally reproachable and
unthinkable option for them.
A recent example of this particular mentality and the intractable
problems it brought on us all, one that become literally
life-threatening and utterly destructive of our everyday lived
reality, we can see in the 2009 elections , the GAP governments of
‘unquestionable decision and absolute rule, which empowers us to act
against the wishes of the Greek People, because we enjoy political
self-sufficiency, and a total control over our MPs who are either
blindly obedient to the party rule or completely spineless’.
Under no circumstances could GAP ever had a chance to become a petty
dictator and then Roi de Soleil and appoint every Papademos as
Prime-minister at will, and against every Constitutional say, had he
not achieved ‘parliamentary self sufficiency’ surrounded by his
faithful watchdogs and blindly-following MPs fed and bred in the same
mentality of the petty dictator.
In fact, apart from the completely undermining and traitorous stance
kept by the justice system, which is also contaminated by offspring
from the same collaborating brood, and the serially traitorous
Papoulias (a classic example of an older-style blind party follower),
the critical factor responsible for the complete lawlessness, the
consecutive totalitarian enforcement of laws, tax exaction and
limitless violence that we feel on our skin even today, is
inextricably connected to the enforced party discipline (that is why
it makes sense on their part to put every effort to achieve this).
Parliamentary self-sufficiency undermines Constitutional Rule and
People’s Mandate for a regime of Absolute Rule over the Greek People,
and this is something that can never be allowed to happen again by
anyone, however loud he cries out that he is pro-people, pro-Greece,
patriotic and nation-minded (not forgetting that as GAP and so many
others taught us so well, they all consider it natural to dishonour
their pre-election commitments at will…IF THEY ENJOY SELF-SUFFICIENCY
IN PARLIAMENT).
There is no reason why they were unable to form a viable government
after the elections of May 6 other than securing their parliamentary
dictatorship. That is the reason why every single one of them, right
after May 6, started their new pre-election statements, because their
purpose was to give a good show and performance so that in the
upcoming elections they may have a better chance at securing their
dictatorship.
Self-sufficiency is a wild card in everyone’s game in the parliament:
the self-sufficient dictators play up the ‘relentless and responsible’
(in the ‘bad cop’ role). The rest beat themselves up in angry protests
supposedly in favour of the People (in the ‘good cop’ role), secure of
course that none of what they are asking will ever take place, none of
their true bosses will ever be hurt, and in the worst case scenario,
they will take up their own dictatorship during the next elections
assuming for themselves the role of the dictator. In other words, we
are dealing with a pre-arranged tango during which they can dance as
they like because the tune has been already been set by
self-sufficiency itself.
But if no self-sufficiency exists, then all are exposed: every one has
to cast his mask down by voting either against the popular mandate, or
remain within the framework of what the People has asked them to do by
voting as they and the People want, pre-empting however with that vote
of theirs the developments People want, since by not securing any
self-sufficiency, every vote counts and at every moment, power can be
lost.
No party discipline can be sustained in that case, and at long last
Democracy can breathe again, under the conditions of course that in
the parliament there are people who are truly interested in serving
the country and its People, and thus, naturally, and regardless of how
different ideologies they may carry, they will eventually find a way,
because the argumentation they will support or reject in combination
with sticking to the line set by the People or its rejection, will
lead them to voting for bylaws that will be generally acceptable by
the people.
If of course the people who are there are only interested in serving
their own interests, personal, or those of the dynasties, foreign
investors, capitalists, internationalism, etc, in short, the interests
of any other but those of the Greek People and of Greece, and do not
realize that both the MP as well as the Minister are there to serve
the people rather than become their masters, and that they therefore
have to represent Popular Will and not their own narcissistic egos,
they will catatonically aim to achieve self-sufficiency, with Greece
never achieving a true patriotic and pro-people government.
The only thing that would convince you at once is trying to imagine
each and every one of those petty leaders gathered around the Last
Traitor Papoulias (recognized by them as president of the democracy),
enjoying self-sufficiency, just like GAP did before them, and how much
he would really care about any popular outrage , which would force him
to engage in ludicrous series of denials, charades, political
double-dealing and arbitrary readings of laws and constitutions,
precisely as they all did now.
Self-sufficiency is a de facto enemy of Democracy, of political
pluralism and the Sovereignty of the Greek People, in the general and
the particular. The political system knows this very well, and it is
time we did too, and decide to hit them where it really hurts:
If you want them to pay via these upcoming elections, this is the only
way even if it is only at the political level.
