There has been much discussion these days about elections, new political
parties, new party signs and in general, effort to ‘rejuvenate’ the same age old
schemas of actual exploitation and restriction of the People that has beset not
only our country but all nation states like ours. There have also been a lot of
discussion on what would help Greece get out of this impasse that leads to the
destruction and annihilation of the People, we all have to live through these
days. But these discussions usually restrict themselves to who and not to what
can avert this outcome. In most of the cases, these discussion participants
resemble doctors who have not been able to proceed with a complete diagnosis
before they prescribe the medicine, or, in the case of the opinion shapers
following Goebbelist prescriptions, the Wild West charlatans who sold medicines
that cured and lined only their own pockets.
In any case, to be able to find the cure, we first need to locate the real
source of the problem that sets forth the disease and second, we have to be
ready to proceed with the cure, regardless of how radical, comprehensive and
outside the trodden path this may lie in our eyes.
If we engage in a overview and comparison of the socio-political schemas applied
in the Western societies that concern us, ranging from oligarchies and
monarchies to communist / socialist regimes, we shall see through the
theoretical analysis of these schemas the same basic distinction between theory
and practice:
A. In the last analysis, a relatively small, percentage-wise, group of
individuals are invested with super powers and being above law and control.
B. There is always a game of double standards played out in the application of
law and order
C. Theory produced by these schemas is used to articulate fear and justify
restriction to the people
More specifically, and via the proper sociological analysis or application of
the principles of political psychology, we shall see that in fact in their
practice capitalism and communism have not been different (no matter how
paradoxical this might seem) despite the fact that the theories associated with
these forms of government are diametrically opposed in both their logic and the
principles on which they are based.
This is taking place because in fact these principles are applied by the very
same persons (in logic and scope) who move under the same motives of securing
power to and for themselves and to the expense of precisely the same group of
people.
Thus, for example in the socialist / communist schemas of government, the role
of the absolute monarch and of the aristocrat are acted out by the politburo and
the party crony, just as in older times, there were other labels in use for the
same type of exploitation, such as ‘monasteries / convents’ in the Anglosaxon
countries of the middle ages, feudal lords, autocratic emperors and aristocrats.
As much the politburo as the ‘blue-blooded’ monarch and/or his favoured
entrepreneur who develops on state funds (i.e., money from the economically
drained People) following photographic proclamations or laws, these same
individuals drain, exploit and terrorize the same extended social group: the
People. In other words, those people who are not NEET or heirs of any political
or business dynasty (as the once heirs of land owners) or heirs to titles
entitling them to a lavish even licentious style of living. To pre-empt any
misunderstandings, ‘NEET’ (not in employment, education or training) of such
kind are those who will never have to work to make a living and neither will
they ever have to fight over access to something. The term does not concern
individuals who, unless they work their butts off, they will die of hunger, or
housewives who have a very serious mission of guarding the cohesion of their
families and work simply without official remuneration.
So what is reality?
Every social system anchors itself on a logic of serving at least the basic
material needs of indiscriminately every member of the society on which it is
supposedly applied, at least in its basic theory (core theory). In every social
system, there is clear description or the duties and obligations of every social
being (when I refer to a social being, I refer to every social being and not
only to the higher echelons) except the perks and rewards: the king – protector
has extremely serious obligations that he takes up on behalf of all the rest and
lays claim to the rewards of kingship, just as the president of the democracy
also vests himself with the weight of the duty of the guarantor of a democracy,
while the leader of a political party takes up the responsibility to maintain
and protect the system (communist or socialist) that relies on political
partisanship to secure the normal functioning of society. Under no circumstances
is one allowed to be licentious and limitless or overlook the general law and
order and societal regulations (we always talk theoretically and not to what
happens in real practice).
All the social systems aim at the normal functioning of society whereby every
social group leads a satisfactory life at least insofar the securing of its
material needs is guaranteed while its worth and necessity of being is
recognized so that a general social health exists.
In theory, there should be no party watch dogs, party cronies who set themselves
up and above law and rules against corruption, with the exception of the most
ancient and obsolete forms of government that functioned under the ‘Grace of
God’ monarchy rule, a remnant of which exists officially in the case of the Pope
only, and even in his case, he is also supposedly constrained by God’s rules.
We are all however well aware that in practice such an ideal situation cannot
exist because quite simply the source of the problem is not in itself the choice
of the social system that is being applied but its corruptibility by those
elements, who, by taking up positions of power convert every such system into
the same excrescent structure of social exploitation and encroachment of Human
Rights, regardless of label or banner under which they attempt it.
Wherever there is a regime of impunity and avoiding of effective and actual
control of a group or of an individual from all the rest of the groups, then we
are dealing with a fascist or junta-like or Nazi-like dictatorship REGARDLESS OF
THE SOCIAL SYSTEM UNDER WHICH THEORETICALLY AND OFFICIALLY THEY APPEAR.
So the source of the problem is not to be found in the type of the system that
theoretically is supposed to function, nor in whether the party is small or big,
green, blue or red, nor in whether the exploiters of the People are named party
dignitaries, aristocrats, businessmen or land-owners, because we simply have a
superficial change of exactly the same act.
The source of the problem lies with the extent of our relying on giving blank
cheques to face this blindly to people, whom we choose to govern us while we are
at least as capable of governing ourselves and managing our affairs.
If we let this power in the hands of anybody without our constant and effective
control and participation in the governmental procedure of our daily lives, it
is mathematically certain that we shall end up exactly where we have been ending
up historically for ages now.
Power is not made so that it can be wielded only by a handful of individuals,
but so that it can be shared EQUALLY AND ON A DAILY BASIS by all who contribute
and live in the society. Otherwise there comes corruption and degeneration.
So what is the medicine of this disease that decimates us, not just us Greeks
but also internationally?
It is direct participation in government
Whether we name this Direct Democracy, or however else, the only solution to the
battling of corruption, in the eradication of the greatest percentage of crime,
in the securing of equality and meritocracy, but also in the actual and real
evolution of Humanity through the salience of true talent and charismas in every
sector (without the need to submit to concessions, to gatekeepers of every
sectors) is the direct access of the political process and handling of power of
indiscriminately all adult Citizens in full faculty of reason.
In nature, there is the meaning of general / total / summative vector that
represents the effect of combining many different factors of different
directions, and which expresses in the best way each and every smaller vector.
Polyphony, therefore in our society needs to be established as real polyphony
sourced from every separate factor (that is, the Citizen), will not end up in a
mire of no choice of selecting a governmental line of action but will result in
the crystallization of a choice that will best express the totality of society.
The strongest argument against such an approach to managing power is the
unfounded claim that the People are inexperienced or lack knowledge on specific
issues where only specialists can in fact have a say.
This is a great bluff and an attempt to derail and disorient and is based on the
well-known goebbelist motto ‘you are ignorant, step aside’.
The reality is that ministers / officials / leaders / managers rarely have even
cursory knowledge of the sectors they are supposed to manage, and as far those
who can show a related knowledge regarding their fields, rarely have the
capacity to show true applications of their specialties successfully in real
time. Besides, that is why they are usually followed by an army of councillors
(who are there to suggest to former) what kind of polity to follow, because the
former do not know.
So, since we have specialists to submit proposals claiming that they submit it
to a non-specialist, and usually ignorant with the subject, to reach a decision,
why not have those specialists submit proposals on ALL other interested but
ignorant of the issue people (that is , ALL THE ADULT CITIZENS WITH POLITICAL
RIGHTS), so that they will all together reach a decision and the best possible
rule?
There is no excuse for not applying Direct Democracy as the only functional,
economical and with greatest resistance to corruption system, precisely because
it is not premised on any person or group of persons in terms of managing power
and representing society (that is, the source of our current problem) but is
supported by all society. And because there is support and management of power
in all society, this very natural, embedded need for survival guarantees the
evolution of society in functional schemes the nature of which we are not
interested in guessing, as we are not interested in guessing the shape of the
braches of a growing tree as long as these are strong and shoot forth new
branches.
As far the practicality of the application of these systems is concerned, there
is already provision for their functioning that requires nothing else but the
simple and constructive change of our daily routine.
