Nowadays that we watch the political system of the post-junta era crumble before our very eyes, it is also the case that there is what in the social sciences call ʽa power vacuumʼ. It is the transitional period where all the aspiring leaders will attempt to grab the largest possible piece of the pie of power that dropped from the hands of the others.
Mainly, it is the time that the dynasts of the People engage in an all-out effort to secure control of these developments.
That is why we shall bear witness in the next few days of a hopeless effort to maintain the system of representation in this façade of democracy which they will once more try to serve to us as re-warmed leftovers. However, representation has been historically proven to be a killer of Democracy. Just as the democratic system of government is a purely Greek concept, the system of representation is purely English, and was built to maintain castes and hegemonic supremacy.
Apart from the various exceptions in the ancient Athenian Republic concerning who was considered a Citizen (which has to do with the general dominant views of the times and not with the particular blueprint of government and polity), it is still the case that WHOEVER WAS REGARDED AS AN ATHENIAN CITIZEN HAD ACCESS IN KNOWLEDGE AND A SAY IN THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS, WITH EVERY CITIZEN HAVING THE RIGHT TO REQUEST AN AUDIT OF EVERY PUBLIC FIGURE.
In short, under real Democracy, every Citizen enjoying political rights partake (as a Right and Obligation) to the vote to either uphold or reject every action that may be of consequence to the common affairs, while abstention from this duty was considered a social disease if not a downright crime.
But in the English corruptive version of true democracy, we observe the exclusion of the common Citizen from the democratic process and instead exercise of representation exclusively by a restricted caste of ʽchosen onesʼ who appear as if they were the direct consequence of the Citizensʼ choice, having carte blanche to exercise dictatorial powers for a particular time period. Also, at least part of the ʽchosen onesʼ are there by inherited right and blood ties, a system met in countries other than England in all other Western ʽdemocraciesʼ via the enforced presence of ʽfamiliesʼ and ʽdynastiesʼ from whom flow the successive incumbents of the voted for positions and offices.
In other words, the English model of representation calls itself democratic when in reality it is nothing else but a dictatorship of limited close-ended choice, whereby all choices in fact serve exactly the same interests, holding party-led kinglets and their courts who all reside in the parliament – their palace – at every state.
Now that in Greece the advent of Direct Democracy, devised by our ancestors through which they had excelled until it was toppled by tyrants, draws near, the English-born and bred foreign establishment living parasitically in Greece since Ottoman times, grafted since the time of Otto by hordes of Bavarian Germans, who settled here and never left, becoming Greek-speaking but never Greeks, will try in a tooth and nail fight maintain this model of representation by:
1. preserving partisanship, even if these parties at first declare themselves to be socialist/ communist / democratic, even if they divest themselves from the term ʽpartyʼ, and start calling themselves ʽmovementʼ, ʽquestʼ, ʽactionʼ, or whatever else which will still need a leader, with committees and subcommittees – and above all, subjects or followers.
2. preserve representation, whereby instead of a simple mandate which would become immediately void at any transgression, infraction or inconsequence by the appointed representative, such representative will be given unlimited and non-specific, hegemonic powers to act at will once in power.
3. preserve their own offspring or proxies of those in their employ to man every office, and post in the state power apparatus.
The only way to cancel the control routes to the Polity, the State and its Sovereignty by imperialism and colonialism that have been sapping Europe and our Country for centuries, is the continuous setup of Referenda for every decision-making and mandate process of interest to the common good.
The defenders of the representation, and therefore of the hegemony and dictatorial rule of the Greek People donning ʽdemocraticʼ masks claim direct representation is impossible, too expensive or time-consuming. But all these arguments are baseless because, first off, we have the example of Switzerland which has actually instituted a system of direct democracy via referenda, and secondly because the setup of a permanent system of Referenda (either by means of a standing ballot system or by any technologically more advanced systems, provided that every Citizen would be able to check its reliability) will not cost more that any other system / organization / network capable of working reliably at national level. If the funding which is siphoned off to the courts of each deputy in parliament, deputy salaries, and the millions of euro paid to the President of the Democracy and his court is cut, it would take only a small fraction of those funds to establish once and all the system of direct vote which will function on a weekly basis.
Also, since any propaganda to vote for or against a particular Referendum would be prohibited, and instead only the data, documents and commitments (civil and criminal) associated with their proponents will be communicated clearly, no funding for any sort of pre-election campaign will be given, nor any direct or indirect funding for any party, movement or action, a procedure that will secure a true Rule of the Greek People while at the same time eradicating all clientelist relationships by default.
As regards the argument that such a procedure would be too time-consuming, again it should be rejected as baseless, since time is actually being spent irrationally by the political system one way or the other regardless, and because no State should be pressurized by any third party to make a decision or act, since this amounts to malicious intent on the part of those who apply such pressure.
On the other hand, it has been historically proven that the time invested in the decision-making process by means of a Referendum is naturally short, and so, the implementation of the decision of the Greek People immediate.
As regards the, admittedly ridiculous, argument about the inherent incapacity of the People to make the right decision, bring to mind on the one hand the tragic errors of judgment by the politicians (we are not at present concerned with the cause of such errors) which are uncountable in number and have cost us one-hundred fold in territory, privilege and power lost, while none can possibly claim that these people are indeed special in any of their mental capacities. On the other hand, think that since everyone is theoretically capable of being elected to office, it follows that we have already in principle (and correctly so) accepted that every adult Citizen can lay claim to ruling his or her Country and decide on her behalf. Therefore, in any comparison between the quality of any decision-making process based on 300 as against one based on the totality of the adult Citizens with active Political Rights, probability theory and common sense tell us that regardless of how much a single mind can be a genius, the collective critical power of some millions of minds must be much better, provided that this collective will is allowed to truly and freely express itself, without being confronted with close-ended choices as has been the case by the party-led dictatorial post-junta period.
Therefore, there is no excuse in rejecting and fighting the option to allow free expression and will to decide to the Greek People by means of a Referendum which is the only true Democratic tool of the political will of the public, when the questions are free of any malicious intent.
Whoever is scared of the Referendum or rejects it, is either in favor of an oligarchy rule hoping for any clientelist link, or is part of the treasonous and collaborating networks trying madly to salvage their dwindling lines of control to the Greek People.
Whoever thinks that those with full Political Rights do not exactly share the same Right and ability in any decision-making process that affect their everyday lived reality, their Country and Nation, are in fact against Democracy, regardless or how much to the left or democratic or socialist he or she declare themselves to be, regardless or how pro-people and internationalist he or she might shout themselves hoarse in trying to convince us.
The test is really simple and the answers to it by anyone who directly or indirectly projects him or herself for leadership show immediately the extent to which this person is truly in favor of the direct Rule of the Greek People or not.
We, as a Greek People, should never acquiesce that we have indeed brought the mandate stipulated by the 120Σ to fruition unless ALL the decisions made by the foreign appointed governments of all times are examined and voted for or against in a series of Referenda.
LONG LIVE GREECE! LONG LIVE THE GREEK PEOPLE! LONG LIVE 120Σ!
