Many a word have been expended and multitudes of analyses have been piling up as
regards the understanding of People’s behavior as much as the covering up /
hushing of real mass action. Now, that we all engage in retrospective thoughts
about the years past is therefore the opportune moment to concern ourselves a
little with this particular issue by asking the following set of questions:
Which is the real picture – profile of the People and how can we discern it
satisfactorily through a maze of counter-information and propaganda which is
admittedly being unleashed by the sum total of the mass media?
The first thing we should keep in mind is that propaganda, in times of ‘damage
control’ crises management by an illegal government, enjoying the support of
habitually unlawful classes of individuals, always works as a reaction to the
already registered stimuli given out on the part of the People.
In other words, the other side monitor which reactions are taking place, or are
imminent and alert-provoking because they pose a potential threat to their
actions, and they fight back via their propaganda channels in an attempt to
pervert the picture, to undermine it, to manipulate and brain-wash by suggesting
‘arguments’ that will put Popular reaction on the ice for a bit.
But read inversely, this means that there is indeed reaction by the People which
they are trying to put on the ‘ice’, as much as there is handling of the People
as a dangerous enemy, and not as a malleable pawn, as was the type of propaganda
Goebbels was in charge of destined for internal consumption for most of the
Germans.
But this sort of weapon carries a double edge because it banks heavily ONLY on
its being invisible to the target, in this case, the People. If the weapon
becomes visible, then it can very well be used by the People and so paint a much
more detailed picture of the profile of mass mobilization and stance than any
‘Gallup’ from these ordered to measure and which are being projected, and
constitute part and parcel of the same propagandist line.
The way to handle this and to decode it is similar to this of a gypsum effigy
and its mold: the gypsum effigy is the propaganda they are trying to feed us and
the mold is the truth, what in fact they know for a fact that it exists and they
are trying to thwart.
We have been told for months that the People do not react but their attack to
every reaction they report is furious and there are a host of reactions and
mobilizations that are never made reference to, and which in other times would
make first page news. We now have every Michalos demanding a ban on the
Constitutionally-anchored Right to demonstrate. What does this tell us? It tells
us that they have to face a People who reacts furiously and intensely, is out of
control of the unionists and party rule and against which every tactic of
straggling this defused and spontaneous mass Popular reaction is being put to
use.
They keep on repeating that they are the … ‘legally’ elected government, a sure
sign that the people consider them (and justly so, on the basis of laws and
evidence) an illegal government, and it is that opinion they are trying to curb
because it is well known that every illegal government has a very short ‘best
before’, expiry date.
People believe that there are individuals within the parliament that would be
willing to sell their own mother for money and who act as a collaborating
government of a country under occupation. This is why they project ‘angered’
politicians shouting the well-known PASOK motto ‘whoever does not feel
comfortable on board may get off the train’ while at the same time they stress
that ‘they have not sold their soul to the devil’.
That also enlist every foreigner in a position of authority to reiterate without
having any need to do so, that the government here has been ratified by the
People, while the last election results have been used earlier in Greece and are
being used now elsewhere to topple governments.
The People have rejected the battery of austerity measures and hence the
counter-arguments projected on the themes of ‘and what is the alternative?’ and
‘in fact the People want the measures’.
The People have correctly estimated that there is no way out of this process
which is a permanent status quo they are trying to impose on Greece and the rest
of the world, and hence they muster even the very last government official whom
they hope against hope that the people will listen to, Papoulias, to say that
there is hope for a way out, within the framework of this propaganda
methodology.
In other words, the People have appraised the situation, have rejected the
proposed remedies and react in their everyday lives but also during in mass
mobilizations so as to do away with the remedy and enforce measures that the
People themselves consider viable, such as the return of the stolen goods and
the punishment of the thieves.
The People also know that the government have torn the Constitution to pieces
and know exactly what penalty such acts bring forth and how the People
themselves are legitimized to enforce such penalties (120C and others), and
hence they now come out to suggest ideas like this government responds to
‘national emergency’ and is a ‘war-period government’: In all likelihood we
should expect suspension of a number of articles of the Constitution since,
under the current Popular profile, elections for the setup of revisory
parliament is risky, but their target (imposition of an official dictatorship)
remains primary for the current illegal government.
That is why we now hear references being made to ‘ecumenical governments’,
claims that PASOK ‘are not solely in control of the government’ but just part of
a concerted all-party effort to enforce measures under the on-going war, etc.
So, what conclusion, even a celebratory one, can we reach?
The conclusion is that the People have already assumed battle positions and have
started fighting, that the People ARE NOT sloth or apathetic or complacent, and
that its enemy on the other side comprising all the dinosaurs of public sector
and large-scale swindlers (ranging from ‘businessmen’ to bankers and
ship-owners) have also taken up battle positions and have already opened fire at
will against us.
The battle has begun and despite the fact that our side does not have mass media
under its control, it still comprises the threatening adversary of all the
thieves and criminals against Humanity.
Just think what will happen when we shall all start to shoot back in concert and
without the unionists, who, offer such certainty to the other side!
