A news report from the TV channel called ANT1 reported a research which has shown that Greek youngsters are introduced to the systematic consumption of alcoholic drinks at 11 and become heavy drinkers and victims of extreme inebriation at around 15.
Primarily the particular research is presented de facto without announcing the way it was done which would tell us if this research is pertinent to all Greek youth regardless of social, economic and psychological state, if the method of collecting data was conducted properly so that we will be able to generalize the results to all of the population and the most important thing, whether statistically and methodologically the research is sufficient to be valid and reliable (for it to be correct research-wise the research must have been conducted with at least one more matching sample of the same populations, with the same results and error margin so that it be reported as a valid result and not an arbitrary indication).
On the contrary, these results which seem to have been procured not from a representative sample of the population but from the very specialized, specific and unrepresentative sample of young people who already frequent clubs, pubs and cafeterias, are announced as axioms/ truths regarding all of the population of Greek youth.
This causes an immediate drop in the moral of the Greeks as an Ethnic group since their offspring are presented as decadent and weak, and therefore they too look underachieving and evil as parents and guardians.
In this very short analysis the only thing we will epigraphically say is that the low self esteem caused by messages such as the one above about Greek youth is the first stage for the submissiveness and compromise and manipulation of a people.
